     not
     the first
     crusade into the maze
     of consciousness

     transcerebral passage
     through the
     sediments of
     mind

     tortuous identity
     layers of
     myself
             from The Koda

     Cerveaulant

     nailed
     to the cross of history
     written in my
     name

     am I
     destiny’s master or
     servant?

     am I
     imperial eagle or
     rollicking kite

     on the umbilical cord of
      evolution?
               from The Koda
                                     "Cerveaulant"  2009

       cloué
     au poteau de l'histoire
     écrite en mon nom

      suis je maître ou esclave
      du destin?

      suis je aigle impérial ou
      piètre cerveaulant

      au cordon umbilical de
      l'évolution?

     insight

     the world
     repainted in my
     eyes

     a gallery of faces graven
     on my macula

      El Greco-like in
      their longdrawn eeriness

      how beautiful we are

      if we are

    ergo sum?

I think therefore I am (René Descartes)
I feel therefore I am (Antonio Damasio)

       we may think that we
      think

      we may feel that we
      feel

      we may think that we
      feel

      we may feel that we
      think

      so what?

      if our being were
      illusion than so would be
      our thinking and feeling

      in what way should the
      illusion of thinking or
      feeling
      prove the reality of our
      being?

(this is not the point anyway)

      credo

     believing
      is easier than
      thinking

      religion:
      a pale horse from
      fear out of
      laziness

      god:
      a tainted cell on
      the cortex of
      time

      greek gifts

      nature
      gave me a nervous system
      for
      suffering

      and a brain for
      carefully programmed
      thought

      thank you for
      nothing

      shadows

     lightyears are dead
     as my father said
      the coming events cast their
      shadows ahead

      neurons in full flight lost
their way in the night and
      many of them in the
      darkness
      died

      they were buried along with
      my father's song
      (he always got his
      quotations
      wrong)
